ROAD TO AECC
The AECC alongside VisitAberdeenshire hosted two familiarisation trips for conference and event organisers from across the UK and Europe. With guests coming from Ireland, Sweden, Holland and France it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase Aberdeen in all its glory. Allowing them to see just what the City has to offer for large scale conferences and events, especially with the opening of the new AECC next to Aberdeen International Airport.
On arrival into Aberdeen guests were whisked off to the 5 star Chester hotel where they were staying for the weekend, followed by dinner and a show round at the Marcliffe hotel.
After a relaxing night at the Marcliffe Hotel guests had the chance to experience the treasures on Aberdeen doorsteps and were taken around by coach with a tour guide who showed them the hidden gems of our beautiful city followed by show rounds at key venues in and around the city.
The whistle stop tour included Elphinestone Hall, University of Aberdeen; Beach Ballroom, Malmaison and Mercure Ardoe House Hotel. The group received a presentation on the new AECC, opening in 2019 at the current site. The day was topped off with a special culinary experience at Nick Nairn’s Cook School.
We at ABC Events were delighted to be a part of both familiarisation trips, showcasing the Marishall College and Mercure Ardoe House hotel with our traditional Mini Highland Games. With activities such as caber toss, haggis roll and claymore hold all the guests really got into the spirit of the games, even dawning their kilts and Jimmy hats. They all really looked the part, Aberdeen is a spectacular city with so much to offer overseas and UK clients, from the premier sporting venues, first class accommodation and conference facilities we were so proud to be part of such a successful showcase.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the Granite City in the near future #LoveAberdeen #RoadtoAECC
